Process forms each Project
For every project, we apply fresh thinking to the unique qualities of the site. We walk, observe, listen, and “inhale” the experience of the land - looking for the intangibles to guide the intent of design. Our approach will vary according to the opportunities and constraints - offering grand or subtle gestures supported by rich details and material - combining together for multi-dimensional expression, use and experience.

Program supports Process
We collaborate with the client - listen to the vision - and articulate this vision in the site program. The program becomes the “bones” of the design while guiding the process through rigor, focus, and criticism. We ask many questions and listen carefully. We document with sketches and photography - revealing the essence of landscape in which to build upon and expand - the vision is set as the design intent reveals the essence of user and place.

Design reveals Intensions and Inspiration
With process guiding the program, design informs us of the possibilities. We develop numerous iterations and - with your input - we refine and let simmer - to reveal the “simple strong structure” for the land. Details and material reinforce the intent while budget alternatives are evaluated.
